LIVERMORE – Incumbent SAD 36 Director Rod Newman was re-elected over with challenger Betty Wilson. The vote was 129-119, Town Clerk Renda Libby said.

All other candidates in town and school contests were elected in unopposed contests.

SAD 36 Chairman Ashley O’Brien was re-elected with 228 votes.

Incumbent Selectpersons Brenda Merrill received 244 votes and John Wakefield garnered 249 votes.

Town Clerk Renda Libby received 260 votes and Treasurer Kurt Schaub had 237 votes.

Newman, a self-employed businessman, said previously, “The biggest issue facing SAD 36 is the need to preserve and try to expand program, while being financially responsible to our taxpayers.”

He said the board of directors needs to find creative ways to finance these programs.

Wilson said earlier, “The biggest challenge for (SAD 36) and all school districts in the state is consolidation and the reduction in funding to education due to the state’s budgetary cuts. This will be a challenge for the next several years, all districts are having to be creative in finding revenue and stretching the dollar we have without effecting our students’ education.”

In other voting results, the state bond question was rejected 142-123, Libby said.
