WILTON – The owner of a yellow lab that bit a transfer station employee Saturday has yet to be found, said Town Manager Peter Nielsen Wednesday.
After town office employees called owners of registered green SUVs in Wilton as well as owners of licensed yellow labs and white poodles without finding the owner, Nielsen turned to the media, but no one has come forward, he said.
The employee, Jesse Rose, was working Saturday morning when she went to help a woman unload her vehicle. She reached into the back of a green Ford Explorer and was bitten on the hand by the lab. A white poodle and child were also in the vehicle.
Rose was treated for the wound at Franklin Memorial Hospital but faces painful rabies shots if the dog’s rabies vaccination record cannot be verified within the next few days, Nielsen said.
“People need to put themselves in her shoes,” Nielsen said, expressing hope that the dog’s records can be checked before the shots for Rose begin. “We basically only want to verify the records,” he added.
The owner or anyone with information about the owner is asked to call him at 645-4961.
