AUBURN – Joseph John McGovern, 92, of 85 Caron Lane, died Wednesday morning June 11 at the Odd Fellows Nursing Home.

He was born in Milltown, New Brunswick, Canada on May 15, 1916, the son of James H. and Kathrine (Hachey) McGovern. He attended schools in Milltown, New Brunswick and later moved to Lewiston in 1941.

On October 5, 1939 he married Dorothy Donovan. She died on June 22, 1983.

Joe was employed for many years at the Hillcrest Poultry Co. where he worked as a superviser. He was a longtime member of St. Joseph’s Church.

He is survived by his nieces Rita Vincent and her husband Leo of Auburn and Nancy Boilard and her husband Daniel of Lewiston; his brother-in-law John Donovan of Auburn and his sister-in-law Sister Rita Donovan of Portland. He also leaves many great nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brothers Bertrand Hachey and Edward Haley.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Kurt Oswald and the staff of Odd Fellows for the exceptional care they gave to Joe and his family.
