LIVERMORE FALLS – Voters approved all but one article pertaining to the $2.57 million municipal budget Tuesday.

Article 38 asked voters if they wanted to increase the property tax levy limit, and they said no in a vote of 131-117.

Town Manager Martin Puckett said that article dealing with the state-calculated growth factor limit of an increase of 3.09 percent in the town budget has failed for the past several years.

Selectmen and the Budget Committee designed a budget below the cap so it didn’t matter if the article was approved or not, he said.

If the budget had exceeded the limit, then the article would have had to come back to a special town meeting so voters could decide what to do, Puckett said.

After factoring in $215,523 in revenues, the appropriations are anticipated to be $2.35 million for the town government portion of the 2009 budget.

This year’s budget is $2.54 million, and after factoring in $175,019 in revenues, total appropriations are $2.36 million
