AUGUSTA – Everett George Byron, 52, died June 10, at Gray Birch Rehabilitation Center, after a long stuggle with esophogeal cancer.

He was born March 31, 1956, in Rumford, the son of the late Earl J.E. Byron and the late Anne Sherburne.

He attended schools in Rumford and Bath. He had been living in the Waterville area for a number of years.

He enjoyed travel, spending many years roaming the Eastern seaboard. He was particularly drawn to the Maine coast. He also loved reading and research.

He devoted much of his time to family history and the Civil War.

He is survived by three grown children, Dan, Virginia and Nicole; siblings, Earl (Buddy) Byron and his wife, Marcia, of Rumford, Charles Sastamoine and his wife, Caralie, of Dixfield, Ambrose Sastamoine and his companion, Deborah, of Norridgewock and Clemma Nichols and her husband, James, of Rumford; an uncle, Jesse Hodsdon and his wife, Rita, of Tallahassee, Fla.; a very special aunt, Ramona Sweatt and her husband, Dan, of Rumford; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Wyona Byron; a brother, Edward Sastamoine; and an uncle, Ambrose Clements.
