DIXFIELD – The Dixfield Swasey-Torrey Post 100 American Legion baseball team will hold its second round of tryouts this Sunday, June 15, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Harlow Park next to Dirigo High School. ELHS Basketball Camp starts June 25

AUBURN – Edward Little High School will be running the fourth year of its Red Eddie Basketball Camp from June 25 to August 1.

This six-week program is designed for children in grades K-8 who have an interest in learning how to play basketball. Red Eddie Camp stresses the fundamentals of the game, skill development and how to be a team player. .

Campers may sign up for any of the six-week sessions and will get a major price break if they attend all six weeks.

The camp is located in the ELHS gymnasium. Campers in grades K-6 will attend from 8:30 to 10 a.m., and seventh and eighth-graders from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

The camp is directed by Mike Adams and Craig Jipson, varsity basketball coaches at EL. Adams and Jipson combine for over 200 career coaching wins, six Coach of the Year awards and 15 tournament appearances as well as over 40 years of coaching experience.

Coaches include subvarsity coaches and current Red Eddie players. Your son or daughter will be coached by the same players they watch all winter long. For registration information, please contact Jipson at 786-3507 or 576-6607.

Benefit softball tourney

STRONG – The 15th-annual Lance Corporal Scott Paul men’s softball tournament will be held June 21-22 at Strong Legion Field and Phillips Ball Park. The tournament is a benefit for Scott Paul Park as well as a memorial in the park for Richard Parker, who lost his life in Iraq last year.

Format is slow-pitch, double-elimination. Cost is $125 per team. First, second and third-place trophies will be awarded along with the Scott Paul and Joe Harris sportsmanship awards.
