RANGELEY – Zach Abbott’s RBI single to right with no outs in the bottom of the seventh inning lifted No. 2-Rangeley to a 6-5 win over No. 3-Buckfield in a Western Maine Class C baseball semifinal.
Kent Madiera left off the bottom of the seventh and reached on an error, one of seven miscues by the Bucks (8-7) on the day. He went to third on a single by Ben Bliss (three hits) to set the stage for Abbott. Luke Hammond (6-0) went the distance for the Lakers (9-4) fanning 15 while allowing five hits.
Tony Fortier ripped a double and smacked a solo homer in the third to lead the Bucks. Cy Wilkinson fanned 11 while suffering the complete-game loss.

Class B semifinal
Fryeburg 5, G-NG 0
FRYEBURG – Cerise Humphrey smacked a pair of singles and drove in three runs as Fryeburg waltzed past Gray-New Gloucester with a 5-0 victory in a Class C softball semifinal Saturday.
The Raiders (17-1) erupted with three runs in the third inning.
Winning pitcher Hannah Hill threw a one-hitter and struck out 13 batters.

Georges Valley 7, St. Dom’s 2
THOMASTON – St. Dom’s held a 2-0 going into the fourth inning when Georges Valley came to life and shook off the Saints with a 7-2 victory in a Class C semifinal game Saturday.
The score stood at 2-1 going into the bottom of the fifth inning when the Buccaneers loaded the bases.
The Saints decided to intentionally walk Ashley Geel, but then Jessica Keating and Liz Hall each smacked two-run doubles as Georges Valley collected five runs.
Danielle Frye was the winning pitcher for the Bucs, giving up only two hits and striking out seven batters.
