LEWISTON – Julia Margaret Bumpus Berndt passed away on Friday, June 13, in the early morning hours following a brief illness.

Julia was born on Nov. 19, 1926, in Pawtucket, R.I., daughter of Harold P. and Alice Jones Bumpus, formerly of Turner.

Her 81 years were filled with a joy of life and an artist’s appreciation of all things beautiful.

Julia is survived by her husband, Robert Berndt, of Poland; and sister, Mary St.Onge of West Greenwich, R.I.

Julia and Bob were married for 62 years, and lived a full and happy life together. Julia was known for her quick wit, easy smile and generous heart, and was passionate about art, gardening and genealogical research. She was an active member of the National Association of Leavitt Familes, and served as its president for 10 years.
