After high school, Mr. Gardner earned his B.S. degree in 1952 from the former Gorham State Teachers College, and in 1972, graduated from the University of Maine with a master’s degree in education.
On Christmas Eve, 1952, Ken married Mona J. Orr, in Bingham, where Ken was a teacher at Bingham High School. Soon after that, the family relocated to Windham, where they raised their two children.
Mr. Gardner was the industrial arts teacher at Windham High School for 28 years, and retired from there because of declining health. He was also the adult education director in Windham for two years. In 1992, after his retirement, Ken and his wife, Mona, moved to Hartford, where they spent summers and falls, and winters in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
