WEST BATH (AP) – A 49-year-old Brunswick man has been indicted for allegedly setting a fire that destroyed his mother’s landmark junk shop.

Henry P. Schmidt is accused of setting the March 30 fire that burned down Dot’s Good Deals, which was owned by his mother, Dorothy Schmidt.

The business, stuffed full of an eclectic assortment of merchandise, was a Route 1 landmark since opening in 1980.

District Attorney Geoffrey Rushlau said Schmidt was convicted of setting fire in 1996 to a home under construction in Phippsburg.
