GILFORD, N.H. (AP) – One person was killed Sunday when a powerboat crashed into a rocky island shore on Lake Winnipsaukee, according to the state marine patrol bureau.

Stephanie Beaudoin, 34, of Meredith, was a passenger in a boat that was headed southeast on the lake around 2:30 a.m. when it struck the shore of Diamond Island in Gilford.

The boat’s operator, Erica Blizzard, 34, of Laconia, suffered serious facial injuries. Another passenger, Nicole Shineopules, 34, of Burlington, Mass., also was injured.

The accident remains under investigation.
