MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) – A Londonderry teenager didn’t let emergency surgery keep him from his high school graduation.

Jacob Chagnon, 18, woke up Saturday morning with sharp stomach pains. At the hospital, he was diagnosed with appendicitis, and doctors performed the surgery laparoscopically and sent him on his way in a matter of hours.

Still groggy from the surgery, Chagnon went to the Londonderry High School graduation in a wheelchair but was able to walk across the platform to collect his diploma.

“The doctors are Parkland (Medical Center) understood this meant a lot to me, and I needed to be hear at 2 o’clock,” he said.
