LEWISTON – Clifton C. Strout, 78, of 56 Emerson Road, Durham, died Saturday, June 14, at Central Maine Medical Center.
He was born in Gray, March 1, 1930, a son of the late Clifford and Gladys Strout. He was educated in Gray schools. He was married to the former Dora Tufts, who died in 1992.
He worked as a truck driver for Granite Paving for many years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. In his later years, he developed his skills as a woodworker.
He is survived by his companion of several years, Dolores Small; five sons, Eugene Strout of Durham, Leon Verrill and his wife, Gene, of Michigan, Leslie Verrill and his wife, Rosemary, of Bowdoinham, Leland Verrill of Lewiston and Michael Verrill and his wife, Donna, of Durham; a daughter, Barbara Greene of Brunswick; 18 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his brother, Lawrence Strout; and his sister, Ester Saucier.
