LEWISTON – Hope I. Ahonen, 67, of Lewiston, died peacefully at home on June 2, after a long illness.
She was born in Bucksport, March 22, 1941, the daughter of Verne W. and Irene E. (Oliver) Sutherland. She attended schools in Brewer and Bangor.
She enjoyed volunteer work at school as a Cub Scout den mother and Little League team mom. Her greatest joy were her grandchildren and she also enjoyed camping and hiking, especially walks at Thorncrag.
She worked at Libbey Mill and Gates Formed Fibre. On June 11, 1960, she married the love of her life, Milton Ahonen in Bangor.
She is survived by husband, Milton; sons, Mark and daughter-in-law, Laurene and Matthew and daughter-in-law, Martha; four grandchildren; sisters, Barbara and Norma; brothers, Glen and Richard; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; sisters, Verna and Janice; and brothers, Loyd, John and Walter.
