SANFORD (AP) – Investigators using DNA tests have confirmed the logging truck involved in a bicycle fatality in Sanford.

DNA tests helped to confirm that 47-year-old Scott Benvie of Porter was driving the truck on April 28 when Susan Coy was killed. Police have said it’s possible that he didn’t notice when the cyclist hit his slow-moving truck at an intersection.

Police say Coy was operating her bike on the wrong side of the street and the bike had defective brakes, both contributing factors in the accident.

It remains to be seen whether charges will be filed against Benvie. The final decision will be made by the district attorney’s office.
