LITCHFIELD – Carroll E. (Sonny) Tripp Jr., 70, of the Neck Road, passed away June 15, from a long-term illness at his home, with his family at his side.

Sonny was born in Lewiston on Sept. 20, 1937, a son of Carroll E. and Marion (Harvey) Tripp. He served in the Navy and worked for Reynolds Tree as well as Advance Heel.

He married Doris E. Corey on Nov. 8, 1958. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting trips with his family and friends. He especially loved gazing out his window on sunny days, with his friend “Nattie,” while watching his tomato plants ripen.

His children and grandchildren put a smile on his face and pride in his heart. He was a man who enjoyed life “pure and simple.”

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Doris E. of Oxford; three sons, Clayton Tripp and companion, Kathy, of Turner, Ronald Tripp and his wife, Kimberly, of Litchfield and Ernest Tripp and his companion, Christina Fought, of Oxford; four daughters, Evelyn Kennedy and her husband, Michael, of Oxford, Janet Lessard and her husband, David, of Winthrop, Barbara Jordan and her husband, Kevin, of Livermore Falls and Tina Tripp and her companion, Mike Short, of Auburn; two sisters, Sandra O’Brien of New Hampshire, and BonnieJean Boardman of Nebraska; 23 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him.
