SOUTHWEST HARBOR (AP) – A father and son have been rescued after their 40-foot lobster boat caught fire and sank 20 miles off Mount Desert Island.

The Coast Guard says it got a phone call from a family friend Tuesday morning reporting that David and Ryan Graves had abandoned their boat, Midnight, for a life raft near Mount Desert Rock.

The Graves’ boat sank around 9 a.m., but they floated in the life raft for about two hours before getting a cell phone signal to call for help.

A Coast Guard vessel located the life raft in foggy conditions shortly before 2 p.m. and brought the Graves to safety. No injuries were reported.
