BATH (AP) – The Machinists union has delayed a decision on whether Bath Iron Works Local S6 will remain in receivership or revert to local control until late July at the earliest.

Spokesman John Carr says the 60-day timeline for a decision following hearings to determine the fate of the union and of the local leadership has been revised.

Carr says the main reason for the delay is that it has taken more time than expected to produce more than 1,000 pages of transcripts from the three-day hearing in April.

He says the international president will make a decision within 15 days of receiving a final recommendation from the hearing panel on July 27.
