AUBURN – Martha M. Roux-Friedman, 86, formerly of 10 Clearwater Ave., Lewiston, died Saturday, June 14, at the Odd Fellow’s Home.
She was born in Chisholm, on July 18, 1921, the daughter of Antoine and Adrienne Chenard Landry. On April 25, 1942, she married Dominic Roux. Together they raised a family, were instrumental in the credit union movement in Maine, and owned and operated the Roux Insurance Agency. Mr. Roux passed away on April 4, 1975. On Oct. 1, 1982, she married her second husband, Irving Friedman, who passed away on July 29, 2000.
A member of St. Patrick’s parish, she is survived by two sons, Raymond Roux of Greene and Daniel and wife, June Roux, of Lewiston; two daughters, Joycelyn Roux of Scarborough and Luanne and husband, Ron Theriault, of Minot; two sisters, Gertrude Mynahan and Lorraine Comeau, both of Lewiston; eight grandchildren, Steve, Kevin, Kotomi and David Roux, Kerri Ashton, Tony Green and Benjamin and Jake Theriault; and six great-grandchildren; special friends, Betty Martel, Kim Chabot Botellio and Marcy Belanger.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Louis Gonzaugue Landry and Rene Leo Paul Landry; and two sisters, Merita Fournier and Dorothy Latarche.
