DIXFIELD – Maine Senate President Beth Edmonds of Freeport will be a speaker at the Oxford County Democrats’ unity rally and spaghetti supper to be held at 5 p.m. Sunday, June 22, at the American Legion Hall.
Edmonds recently presided over the 2008 Maine Democratic Conventions attended by more than 3,700. She is completing her fourth year as senate president. Her remarks will focus on the importance of electing Democrats at all levels of government.
Oxford County Democratic Chairwoman Cathy Newell announced that the following individuals will host the event: Ed Roach of Dixfield, Sen. Bruce Bryant of Dixfield, Rep. John Patrick of Rumford, Rep. Tim Carter of Bethel, Rep. Terry Hayes of Buckfield, Paul Dumas of Mexico, Matt Peterson of Rumford, Charleen Chase of Bethel, Bruce Rood of Norway, Helen Rankin of Hiram, Russell Newcomb of Norway, Jon Albrecht of Dixfield, Cathy and Charlie Newell of Greenwood with additional hosts likely.
Tickets to the supper and rally will be sold at the door with a suggested donation of $5 a person.
Additional Democratic offices at 235 Bridgton Road in Fryeburg, and on Mechanic Street in Bethel are set to open to serve the southern and western parts of the county. Offices in Rumford and Norway are open at 432 Hancock St. and 333 Main St. respectively. Grand openings for all offices will be held during the summer and a schedule of open hours will be released in July.
