ISLESBORO (AP) – Investigators are awaiting the results of an autopsy on the body of a woman found dead on rocks near the town beach in Islesboro.
The Waldo County Sheriff’s Office said the middle-age woman’s death is being treated as suspicious but there is no indication of foul play. Chief Deputy Bob Keating said the woman has been identified but her name is being withheld until relatives can be notified.
The sheriff’s department received a call reporting the discovery of the body on the Penobscot Bay island shortly after 3 p.m. Monday.
State police are assisting in the investigation. The autopsy is being performed at the state medical examiner’s office in Augusta.
