MEXICO – Burglars have hit the Family Dollar Store twice in less than a week, resulting in stolen cash and damage to a door.

Police Sgt. Roy Hodsdon said the store, located in the Mexico Plaza, was first burglarized sometime before 8:35 a.m. June 4.

He said it appeared that no force was used to get in through the glass doors, although the lock may have been picked. Two cash registers were pried open, causing about $300 damage. About $170 in cash was taken.

On June 11, between 3 and 5:30 a.m., someone shattered a glass entrance door causing about $1,000 damage. Nothing appeared to be missing in that incident.

He said a clerk from the nearby Food Trend spotted the gaping hole in the door at 5:43 a.m. and reported it to police.

He said police have no leads or suspects.
