AUBURN – Harriman, a full-service architecture and engineering firm with offices in Auburn and Portland, announces that Steven P. Furgeson and William R. Heil have joined the firm. The are associated with the Auburn office.

Furgeson, Maine’s first LEED accredited professional, brings nearly 20 years of experience in health care, institutional and educational projects. His experience includes projects in New England as well as Illinois, Ohio, Oklahoma, Virginia, Washington, D.C., Maryland, Georgia, Florida and Alabama. He holds a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from Clarkson University in Potsdam, N.Y., and a master of science in mechanical engineering from the University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio.

He is a certified health care facilities manager, certified energy manager, and a certified sustainable development professional. He is a licensed professional engineer in Maine and seven other states, and is a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers; American Society for Healthcare Engineering; and the Association of Energy Engineers. An associate instructor at the Air Force Institute of Technology in Dayton, Ohio, he teaches mechanical engineering through in-house and satellite courses broadcast to students worldwide.

Furgeson and his wife live in Topsham with their sons.

William R. Heil joins the Auburn office as a senior electrical engineer with more than 20 years of experience in health care, education, industrial and utility projects. His project experience has included work throughout New England, as well as in New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, Florida, Illinois, Michigan and California. He holds a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from Pennsylvania State University with a minor degree in business law.

He is a licensed professional engineer in Maine and 10 other states. He is a LEED accredited professional and is lighting certified by the National Council on Qualifications for the Lighting Professions. He has been a member of the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America for 12 years and the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers for more than 20 years.

He lives in Gorham with his wife and their daughter.
