GILFORD, N.H. (AP) -The driver of the boat that crashed into an island on Lake Winnipesaukee last weekend is improving in the hospital.

Erica Blizzard of Laconia has been upgraded from serious to fair condition at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. She admitted Sunday in critical condition.

Meanwhile, a funeral was held Thursday at St. Joseph Church in Laconia for Stephanie Beaudoin of Meredith, who died in the crash.

Beaudoin and Blizzard were close friends.

A second passenger, Nicole Shinopules, of Burlington, Mass., is hospitalized.

The state Marine Patrol is investigating the crash that happened around 2:30 a.m. Sunday.
