WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) – A 16-year-old girl has admitted in a suburban New York court that she stabbed her boyfriend to death when he broke up with her.

Peekskill resident LaTonya Fisher pleaded guilty Thursday to first-degree manslaughter. State Supreme Court Justice Lester Adler says he’ll sentence her to 10 years in prison.

Seventeen-year-old boyfriend Justin Woodward was killed Jan. 3. Police responding to Fisher’s 911 call found her holding his body on the floor of her family’s apartment.

The judge says the girl had been a victim of assault and abuse in her upbringing.

In Queens, prosecutors say a 21-year-old man has been sentenced to 24 years in prison in another breakup killing. Shane Tomlinson was sentenced in the shooting death of 18-year-old Chameka Miller, who had been trying to break up with him.
