A couple of paragraphs is hardly enough to explain the science behind a theory that has stood the test of time for over 150 years and is the basis of so many current fields of study, it is impossible to imagine modern science without it. But a couple of paragraphs are quite enough for the uneducated to post “Straw Man” arguments against the theory which will be taken as fact by other people who either don’t care to take the time to learn the truth or fear the truth.
Everything Daniel Crawley said in his letter (June 17) was either misconception or prevarication of the lowest order. If he wishes to learn what the theory of evolution really says and why the consensus on it has been in for so many generations of scientists, I suggest he visit www.talkorigins.org. A good place for the interested layman to start (the site is huge and filled with useful information) would be the FAQ page.
Every one of Mr. Crawley’s spurious contentions are addressed on the Web site, as are all the ridiculous “arguments” against the theory of evolution.
