OLD ORCHARD BEACH (AP) – Maine state police are calling the death of an Old Orchard Beach man in his home overnight a homicide.

Maine Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland says the victim, 45-year-old Winston George, was reported dead at 5:30 a.m. Friday. McCausland says the man’s wife and teenage son were at the Smithwheel Road home at the time.

McCausland says George’s car was found abandoned at The Captain’s Galley Restaurant, in another part of Old Orchard Beach. He said investigators believe it was stolen whoever was responsible for the killing.

McCausland says detectives are trying to sort out what happened, and they’ve interviewed the mother, son and neighbors as part of the investigation.
