LEWISTON – The Lewiston Housing Authority Board of Commissioners has announced the availability of the annual Roger R. Berube Scholarship Fund. The authority will award two grants of $1,000 each, with one grant going to a public housing resident and one grant to a Section 8 recipient.

Roger R. Berube, a long-time friend of the Lewiston housing community and a Lewiston Housing Authority board member from Jan. 3, 1978, to Jan 2, 1996, died June 14, 1996.

Applicants must be residents of public housing or Section 8 housing voucher recipients already enrolled in an accredited college (or will be in the fall), technical college, nursing school or any endeavor which would, lead to a profession or trade. High school graduation or General Educational Development certificate is a must for applicants.

Interested applicants are asked to contact Reta Herrick at the Lewiston Housing Authority, Department of Resident Services, at 783-8539. Application forms are available at LHA, One College St., or the Hillview office at 77 Rideout Ave.

Deadline for applying is Monday, June 30, by the end of the business day. Successful applicants will be notified in July.
