LEWISTON – Calvary United Methodist Church, 59 Sabattus St., was recently selected as one of the top “Spiritually Alive” United Methodist churches in mid-Maine by District Superintendent the Rev. David Svenson.
Rosemary Word of the New England United Methodist Conference met with the Rev. Casey Collins of the Calvary United Methodist Church and four representatives from the congregation to understand what the church has been doing to merit the declaration.
Determining factors included relevant biblical messages, engaging, uplifting music and a welcoming church community invested in serving the community.
The results of the interview will be combined with answers from other churches also selected as “Spiritually Alive” across New England and shared with all United Methodist churches.
The church holds services at 10:30 a.m. every Sunday and all are welcome.
