AUBURN – Irene (Cloutier) Elie, 87, of Bolster Heights Residential Care Facility in Auburn died Monday, June 23, surrounded by her family.
She was born in Spring Hill, Canada, on June 18, 1921, the daughter of Joseph and Marie Anne (Grenier) Cloutier. On June 21, 1941, she married Norman A. Elie at St. Mary’s Church in Lewiston.
She was a member of Holy Family Parish and belonged to the Paraclete Prayer group for many years. Prior to her retirement, she was a candy maker for Lou Rod Candy.
She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family. She was especially fond of family gatherings at the holidays and weekly Sunday brunch. She followed the events of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, faithfully attending their special activities.
She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Norm; her children, Vivian and Paul Richard, Gerald and Jacqueline Elie, Janice Elie, Klaire Magaera and family friend, Holly Lanmon; her grandchildren, Dina and Larry Jackson, Danielle Richard, Jennifer and Brian Kelly, Matthew Elie, Hope Elie and Brian Haslip, Sarah Elie and John Montgomery; her great-grandchildren, Mikayla Jackson, Keegan, Kallista and Kory Chandler; a sister and her husband, Therese and Chuck Brower; a sister-in-law, Lillian Cloutier; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Irenee and Herve Cloutier; and two sisters, Yvette Bolduc and Simonne Denis.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staffs at Hospice House and Bolster Heights for their loving attention and support while she was in their care.
