I am writing this letter because all too often in today’s world, people who make huge positive influences in society go unrecognized.
About two years ago, I was diagnosed with full-blown AIDS. Within a couple of days, I was assigned a case manager from St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center. Throughout the last two years, my family and I have had serious financial and other stresses. When I would call her for help, without hesitation, she would go above and beyond her duties as my case manager to help us out. She always was there, even to just listen to me vent my problems.
The list of things she did to help me and my family would be too long to fit in this letter.
I have struggled to stay alive over the last two years. I honestly believe in my heart that if it were not for her, I would not be here today, or be as healthy as I am. The amount of stress she saved me from experiencing played a enormous role in keeping me healthy.
I wish that I could do more for her but due to financial and physical limitations, I am unable to do more than write this letter. I hope it inspires others to do the right thing and give praise to those who make positive impacts in the world. I send along my grateful appreciation to my former case manager, and to God for bringing her into my life.
