When gas hit $4 a gallon two weeks ago, employees at Stephen’s Pizza & Convenience Store on Sabattus Street in Lewiston had to break out cardboard and markers. The store did not have enough number fours to accommodate the record price for gas, said manager Cathy McClintock. On top of that problem, the older style pumps only register at $3.99 and below. McClintock said the parts were ordered to adjust the pumps, but the piece has been on back order for two months. Until the parts come in sometime in July, the store pumps are set to sell half-gallons instead of gallons. Yves Roy of Lewiston is shown filling up his pickup on Friday afternoon.
