WISCASSET (AP) – When Officer Willy Simmons was called to the Wiscasset town offices about a vehicle on fire, he was in for a surprise when he found it was his pickup truck that was engulfed in flames.

By the time Simmons arrived at the fire at 2:30 a.m. Friday, it had spread to a nearby Wiscasset police cruiser.

Simmons was able to move the cruiser and keep damages to a minimum, but his pickup truck was a total loss before firefighters could put out the fire.

Investigators say the fire was set on purpose and that they have suspects in mind.
