FARMINGTON – Four men are being held at a Farmington jail on $10,000 to $15,000 cash bail on charges connected to camp burglaries on Porter Lake in Strong and New Vineyard last week.
The damage to dozens of seasonal camps reported on June 16 and 17 could exceed $100,000, Franklin County Sheriff’s Lt. Niles Yeaton said Tuesday.
“Three juvenile males have also been apprehended,” he said. “They will be charged at a later time.”
Deputies arrested the men between late Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning.
Timothy D. Lagasse, 18, of Industry Road in Farmington, and Shane C. Sturgeon, 21, of Botka Hill Road in Livermore, were arrested Monday afternoon, Yeaton said.
Sturgeon was charged with 24 counts of burglary and with aggravated criminal mischief and theft, Yeaton said. He is being held on $15,000 cash bail.
Lagasse was charged with 13 counts of burglary, aggravated criminal mischief, and theft, he said. He is being held on $10,000 cash bail at the county jail.
Zachery Heath, 19, of West Farmington was arrested and charged Tuesday with 24 counts of burglary, and theft and aggravated criminal mischief. He is being held on $15,000 cash bail.
Dylan Couturier, 18, of Park Street in Livermore Falls was also arrested and charged with 11 counts of burglary, and aggravated criminal mischief and theft on Tuesday. He is being held on $10,000 cash bail.
They will be arraigned Wednesday at a Farmington court.
Yeaton said damages at the approximately 25 camps ranged from none to every window and glass door being broken, he said.
Deputies don’t know how many camps were hit yet, Yeaton said, because the numbers are still being collected.
A total damage estimate will not be known for weeks due to the extensive damage, he said.
One camp owner has an estimated $35,000 in damage that doesn’t include replacing the carpets, Yeaton said.
Key evidence in the case, seized in an unrelated incident June 18 in Farmington, was provided by Farmington Police Department officer Ed Hastings, he said.
