TOGUS – Louis R. Denis, 77, formerly of Jill Street, Lewiston, passed away on Friday, June 20, at the Togus VA Medical Center in Augusta, after a long illness.

He was born in Lewiston, on Oct. 19, 1930, the son of Louis R. and Jean Delisle Denis. Educated locally, he served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

On June 20, 1953, he married the former Anita Lapointe, who passed away on June 24, 2002. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a roofer and steeplejack. He always had a love of the outdoors, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and especially skiing at Sugarloaf.

A member of Holy Cross Parish, he is survived by a son, Gilbert and wife, Linda, of Jackson Hole, Wyo.; a brother, Lionel and wife, Dorothy Denis, of Lewiston; a grandson, Christopher Denis of Jackson Hole, Wyo.; and a brother-in-law, Gerry and wife, Connie Lapointe, of Auburn.
