NORWAY – The Stone-Smart American Legion Auxiliary Unit #82 met June 11, with Thelma Denlinger presiding.

The Charter was draped for Marion Millett, past president. Joyce Clifford read names of Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School graduates receiving scholarship awards: Samatha Rivers, the Myra Stevens Award; Monica Wilson and Jessie King; the Auxiliary Unit Awards.

Marjy Sessions noted the Unit has 99 paid members. Ellen Snow reported that she has donated to Sequoia’s Angels $1,955 worth of goods to help people in Oxford County, consisting of sports equipment, baby items of all kinds, pots and pans, dishes, toys, clothes and books.

President Denlinger gave a report on Karoke night; the Post will be holding another on Saturday, June 28.

The Post and Unit will hold a baked bean and ham supper on Friday, July 11, in conjunction with the Norway Art Festival.

Post and Unit will hold a yard sale on Saturday, July 19, at Great Scott Storage on Route 26. Members will gladly take donations, monies go to help veterans, children and youth and community.

The Unit voted to help the Post on Project Norway Main Street, to make the fronts of grounds and buildings look better. Members voted to change one of the units scholarship awards to become The Marion Millett Memorial Award. The Unit made a donation to Blinj Camp in Marion Milletts Memory, and members voted to make a donation to the Norway Firemen’s Relief Fund.
