LISBON – Dorothy R. Parker of Auburn, died peacefully June 20, at the Lamp Convalescent Center after a long illness.
She was born Aug. 14, 1928, the daughter of Anne and Donald Dean of Auburn. She had two sisters, Shirley and Virginia and a brother, Donald Jr. She grew up in Auburn and graduated from Edward Little High School in 1946.
On June 28, 1947, she married Bernard F. Parker of Auburn. Bernard and Dorothy had three sons, Mark, Eric and David. She served as a Cub Scout den mother for several years, until all three sons were through scouting.
She worked for several years at Shaw’s Supermarket in Auburn. She started as a cashier and worked her way up to a position in the main office. She was a breast cancer survivor who was active in supporting other women with cancer. She also donated countless hand-made blankets for the stillborn infants at Central Maine Medical Center.
She enjoyed sewing, knitting and spending time with family at their camp in Greene. She was an active member of the Calvary United Methodist Church in Lewiston and the Methodist Church of Minot and served on many church committees with her husband.
She is survived by her husband, Bernard of Auburn; three sons, Mark Parker and his wife, Deborah, of Hancock, N.H., Eric Parker and his wife, Lynda, of Oxford and David Parker with Lisa Marchi, of New Hampshire; four grandchildren, Shary Parker of Philadelphia, Pa., Kimberly DeLisle and her husband, Zac, of Jaffery, N.H., Currier Neily of West Canaan, N.H., and Lucas Neily of Boston, Mass.; a sister, Shirley of Ventura, Calif.; and a brother, Donald Jr. of Auburn.
She was predeceased by her sister, Virginia of Auburn.
