GREENSBORO, N.C. – Eight Maine high school walkers made the 1,800-mile round trip to compete in the Nike Outdoor Track and Field Championships last weekend. Five of those competitors, including two walkers who just completed their freshman year at Edward Little High School, earned All-America awards.
Matt Bolton of Bonny Eagle, Lucas Seiferth of Gorham and training partners Keith Tremblay and Evan Favreau of EL finished third through sixth, respectively, in the boys’ race. Tremblay’s time of 8 minutes, 46.36 seconds edged Favreau (9:00.20), who finished four second ahead of Mt. Blue’s Kris Nadeau for the final All-America nod.
Kayte Demont of North Yarmouth Academy took fourth in the girls’ event. Emily Reed, a freshman at Mt. Blue, was eighth.
