AUBURN – Police are seeking a Greene man who crashed a car near his home Wednesday, then disappeared.

Charles Hebert, 18, of 1188 North River Road broke into the bedroom of his mother, Amanda, and took the keys to her car early Wednesday morning. He drove her 1995 Oldsmobile about 200 yards before he crashed it, damaging its rear, said Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Capt. Ray Lafrance.

Hebert drove the car back home, packed his clothes and blankets, then fled on a bicycle, Lafrance said. Hebert had a gash on his forehead, suffered during the crash.

Police are looking for Hebert, who was described as 6 feet tall, weighing 175 pounds, and wearing a white leather “Public Enemy” jacket stitched with “Guns and Roses” patches on the right side, blue jeans and a white “DC” ball cap.
