This oil painting, titled “Withering Rose,” was done by Grayling Cunningham, the next featured artist at Captive Elements Art House.Originally from Belfast, Cunningham has been interested in the arts since early childhood. Introduced to oil paints by his high-school art teacher, he fell in love with the medium. He moved to the Lewiston-Auburn area and became a hairstylist in 1994. Inspired by shapes, colors, moods and the events that shape daily life, he transfers this on to canvas through an abstract eye. An opening reception, with snacks, adult beverages and music, will be held from 8 p.m. until midnight at the art house at Suite 3, 25 Landry Road, Lewiston. The show will run through July 17.
