ANDOVER – The town’s amateur photography contest will be exhibited on Aug. 2 in the Town Hall, with live music from 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.. Photographs are placed in four subject groups. Group A: Portrait, Animal, Landscape. Group B & C are separated into age brackets. Group D is explained below.
A: 17 years and older, color prints
B: 11 years to 16 years, color prints
C: 10 years and under, color prints
D: black and white prints, all ages in one group
There are 115 ribbons awarded (an increase of 18) of which six will be grand prizes and one for best of show. Best of show also receives a $25 prize. Honorable mention ribbons will also be awarded.
Judging is based on composition, subject matter, artistry, clarity, and demonstrative. All photographs must be submitted at the Andover Town Hall no later than Wednesday, July 30. This is strictly enforced.
Photographs can be submitted from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 26; from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, July 28, and from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30.
Each photograph must have a name and address printed on the reverse side of the photograph. If under 17 years, the age must also be included. No photograph will be accepted with a name on the photo side.
Only three photographs in any one subject group per person. No professionals please. This is strictly for amateurs.
If you have already won a first place ribbon in any past exhibits please do not submit that photo again. Framed or matted photographs do no enhance the judging, but do complement the exhibit.
