Jesse Ray Carter will perform delta blues Friday, July 4, at She Doesn’t Like Guthries. Born and raised in rural Kentucky, Tennessee and Virginia, Carter taught himself a repertoire of delta blues on guitar and harmonica and immediately started playing street corners for tips. He soon found himself working in clubs and bars along the East Coast. Today besides playing solo, he plays original music with a trio that recorded a demo of his music in 2006. Since early January, he and his trio have played at The National Undergound, a New York City club owned by pop singer Gavin Degraw. Carter tours full time either playing solo acoustic blues or with the trio. There is no cover charge for the show. The kitchen will be open, and the show begins at 9 p.m. Guthries is on Middle Street in Lewiston.
