LEWISTON – Melanson Paving kicked off the Elliot Ave. Little League Major Division playoffs with a pair of victories, advancing to Monday’s championship game.

Alex Small cranked a home run in Melanson’s 17-2 win over Mike Morin’s Auto Center. Small, Conner Perron and Austin Wing each pounded out three hits. Devin Harrison added two, including a triple.

Nick Belanger pitched four innings to earn the victory. Caleb Dostie and Derek Montminy led the offense for Morin’s.

Melanson pulled off a 12-5 upset of Rowe in the second round. Small homered for the third consecutive game. Belanger and Colton Bernier chalked up two hits apiece. Kyle Morin delivered a double. Carter Chabot went five strong innings on the hill.

Ethan Melvin led Rowe with two hits, highlighted by a triple. Zach McBride and Kyle Lemelin each ripped a double.

ASLL softball

AUBURN – Gee & Bee completed an undefeated regular season in Auburn Suburban Little League softball with a 16-5 triumph over Rotary.

Kory Norcross played a great game on both sides of the equation, striking out 10 on the mound and pounding out three hits for Gee & Bee (17-0). Ashlee Arnold went 4-for-4 and pegged Rotary’s runner with a terrific throw to catcher Makayla Norcross to end the game.

Megan Freitas and Katherine Peterson each piled up three hits. Makayla Norcross matched Arnold with four, including a double. Tianna Harriman also tacked on a two-bagger, and Miranda Johnson slapped a pair of safeties.

Brooke Reynolds, Kennedy Hubbard, Breanne Bray and Chantel Belanger each tallied a hit for Rotary. Meagan Chartier anchored the defense with a splendid outfield catch.

The season ended with a round-robin on Saturday.

A game reported to the Sun Journal as a 10-8 win for Pepsi over Gee & Bee last week was actually a forfeit victory for Gee & Bee. Pepsi did not have a full complement of nine players for the contest.

ASLL baseball

AUBURN – Corey Henderson and Kaileb Tremaine combined for a two-hit shutout to highlight East Auburn’s 6-0 win over Pepsi in Auburn Suburban Little League Major Division baseball.

East Auburn also downed Hardy, Wolf and Downing, 7-2, and dropped a 10-4 decision to Austin’s in recent action.

Henderson homered to back up his hurling in the Pepsi game. Llewellyn Jensen and Matthew Verrill also highlighted the hit parade. Ian Mileikis and Noah Yarnevich performed pitching duties for Pepsi. Elijan Moreshead accounted for both hits with a pair of doubles.

Patrick Buzza, Jensen and Tremaine hooked up on a three-hitter against HWD. Jensen was 3-for-3 at the dish, including an inside-the-park home run. Tremaine and Luke Sterling also enjoyed big days with the bat, and Buzza made several sterling plays at first base.

Caleb Burgess, Noah Pelletier and Brandon Binette allowed only five hits in a solid pitching effort for HWD. Binette, Jack Coyne and Brandon Dubuc notched the hits.

Austin’s Brendan Pelletier and Mickey Lawrence held East Auburn in check, allowing two hits over the route. Lawrence matched that total himself offensively, with Michael Hammond, Chris Rideout, Matt Keaney and Isaac Lane also getting into the act.

Henderson and Ryan Deveau lashed out East Auburn’s hits. Henderson and Seth Sterling pitched, helped by Dillon Hummes’ defense.
