Daryl Hall of legendary Hall and Oates fame will take the stage in Discovery Park in Freeport Saturday, July 5, as part of L.L. Bean’s 2008 Summer Concert Series. On the Fourth of July, singer-songwriter Toby Lightman will bring her contemporary pop music to the park. Both outdoor concerts will begin at 7:30 p.m. and are free. Teaming up in the early 1970s, Hall and John Oates went on to become the most successful duo in rock history. According to their Web site, they met in a freight elevator while escaping a riot at the Aldephi Ballroom during the club’s legendary Battle of the Bands. The duo sold more than 60 million albums and released eight No. 1 hits plus numerous other hits during the 1970s, ’80s and ’90s – and “Do It For Love” in 2002. Among their top singles are “Rich Girl,” “Kiss On My List,” “Maneater,” “Private Eyes,” “I Can’t Go For That (No Can Do) and “Sara Smile.”
