LEWISTON – Richard M. Janosco, 73, of Lisbon died Sunday, June 29, at Montello Manor with his family by his side.
He was born in Lisbon Falls, Aug. 29, 1934, the son of George M. and Mary Bartko Janosco. He was educated in Lisbon schools having graduated from Lisbon High School with the class of 1954.
After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he faithfully served his country for four years. On May 14, 1955, he married the love of his life, Delphine Comeau. Together they made their home in Lisbon. When he was honorably discharged from the Navy, he went into sales at Mammouth Mart for a few years. He then became co-owner and chef of the Way Farer Restaurant (now Blake’s Grill in Lisbon Falls).
He also owned a Mary Carter paint store in Brunswick after selling his share of the restaurant. He continued on to sell his paint store to own his own business, Jan CO. International, specializing in industrial cleaning products and sporting good products, especially his famous ice fishing traps which was the best seller at Laverdier’s stores for many years.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Parish in Lisbon Falls, and The Knights of Columbus, 3rd degree with Council 106 in Lewiston. He was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for fishing and he enjoyed traveling with his wife on countless trips to Canada, to visit his many friends.
He is survived by his wife, Delphine Janosco of Lisbon; one daughter, Tiana Bonefant and her husband, Shawn, of Hallowell; one brother, George P. Janosco and his wife, Therese, of Lisbon Falls; many nieces; and one nephew.
He was predeceased by his parents; and his sister, Mary Margitan.
