LEWISTON – Joseph E. Chartier, 85, of Ann Street, died Monday, June 30, at Central Maine Medical Center.
He was born in Lewiston on Jan. 22, 1923, the son of Joseph and Ida (Dufour) Chartier. Eddie proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and Korea.
He was a carpenter for more than 40 years for Local 407. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and watching the Red Sox.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Carol Chartier of Lewiston; sons, Joseph Chartier Jr. of Bethel and James D. Chartier of Lewiston; stepson, Jimmy Letourneau of Poland; daughters, Delores Demers of Auburn and Peggy Harley of Rumford; brothers, Wilfred, Joseph P., Robert, Richard and Albert Chartier; sisters, Florence Felos and Madeline Michaud; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents; daughter, Cheryl Estes; sister, Liona Chartier; and brothers, James and Donald Chartier.
