NORWAY – William A. Woodworth, 85, of South Paris, died Tuesday, July 1, at Stephens Memorial Hospital.

He was born in South Paris, April 16, 1923, the son of M. Herbert and Myra Austin Woodworth. He graduated from Paris High School in 1942, and on Dec. 12, 1942, he married Letha Davis. He faithfully served his country in the Army during World War II, first stationed in Paris, Tenn., with his wife before being shipped out to Guam.

He was employed at the South Paris Post Office for 35 years, retiring in 1978. He was a member of the First Congregational Church. In his retirement, he built furniture for his family, collected coins, enjoyed his flower gardens, golfing, fishing and loved and knew all of his grand and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife; three children, Anita Parsons, Dennis and his wife, Betty and Calvin and his wife, Pamela; grandchildren, Saunda Morin and husband, Chris, Stephen Woodworth and wife, Lisa, Spencer Woodworth and wife, Cindy, Stephanie Woodworth, Jennifer Otterson and husband, Karl, Joanne Steeves and husband, Mike and Emily Woodworth; nine great-grandchildren, Derrick, Mikayla, Sean, Jack, Spencer, Owen, Sam, Abby and Annabelle; a brother, Gordon; and two sisters, June Scawthorne and Alice Thyng.

He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Elisha; and a brother, Richard.
