AUGUSTA – Joseph T. “Tom” Drapeau, 73, of Hancock Street, Rumford, passed away on Tuesday, July 1, at the Maine Veterans’ Home.

He was born in Rumford on May 10, 1935, a son of Joseph and Emma (Langevin) Drapeau.

Tom attended St. John’s School and was a graduate of Stephens High School

He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1955 to 1958.

He was employed at Oxford Paper Co. for 15 years, and worked at Bath Iron Works for 28 years.

He was a communicant of St. Athanasius-St. John Catholic Church.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also loved fishing and being outdoors.

He is survived by a daughter, Sharon Lanon and husband, John, of Virginia Beach, Va.; two sons, Dale Drapeau and wife, Ann, of Randolph and Thomas Drapeau and wife, Diane, of Rumford; a sister, Lea Canwell of Bowdoinham and Florida; four grandchildren, Terra Luckett and husband, Chris, Zack Lanon and wife, Erika, Kayla Drapeau and Lucas Drapeau; and one great-grandson, Tyler Luckett.

He was predeceased by his parents; and his former wife, Edna (Ames) Drapeau.
