AUBURN – Philippe Conrad Lebel, 75 years on Earth, returned to Heaven Monday, June 30.
He was born in Lewiston, on Dec. 17, 1932, the youngest child of Willie and Marie Couturier Lebel.
Phil was educated in Lewiston and CMVTI in Auburn, and served his country in Korea with the Army as a radio operator.
He was employed by several companies. Most notably, L/A United Grocers of Lewiston as a salesman, and Bath Iron Works as a pipe fitter until his retirement.
In his early years, he was a great golfer. Recently he played pool, cards and sudoku.
Dad loved new technology, especially electronics, computers, and things that have lots of buttons and switches. He liked observing wildlife, attempted to identify species of birds new to the feeders, but would scream at the squirrels that dug holes in the lawn.
He was a member of Lewiston Lodge of Elks 371, American Legion Post 158, Franco-American War Veterans, Le Club Pass-Temps.
He is survived by his wife, Eva; three sons, Laurier (Larry), Willie of Auburn and Raymond of Louisville, Ky.; granddaughter, Evalynn of Poland; sisters, Anne Gravel of Auburn and Mrs. Robert (Laurette) Sharby of Pittsfield, Mass.; brother, Robert of Anderson, S.C.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, Roger, and sadly missed his brother, Adrian, who was killed in Korea.
