LEWISTON – Ronald R. Smith Sr. “Smitty,” 69, a resident of Greene, died Monday, June 30, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, with family by his side, after a long illness.

He was born in Boston, Mass., Aug. 1, 1938, the son of Lewis M. and Gladys H. (Moore) Smith. He grew up in Quincy, Mass., then moved to Maine early in life, where he was employed as a master mechanic for many auto dealers in the Lewiston and Auburn area.

He was a former Boy Scout leader for Troop 113 in Greene. His hobbies included being an avid outdoor enthusiast, working on cars and enjoying his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, (Joyce Quinlan) Smith of Greene; three daughters, Barbara Dupuis and husband, Jean, of Greene and Janice Gagne and Judy Smith, both of Lewiston; one son, Ronald R. Smith Jr., and his wife, Julie, of Greene; one brother, Karl Smith and his wife, Chris, of East Bridgewater, Mass.; and eight grandchildren, Michelle, Kevin, Adam, Clarissa, Megan, Alec, Jacob and Jaime-Lyn.
